Under the Madhya Pradesh Journalist Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme, personal health insurance will be Rs 4 lakh and accident insurance will be Rs 10 lakh. MP Key points of health insurance policy for journalists

• This policy covers the reimbursement of all hospital medical expenses of the Life Assured up to the Sum Assured as specified in the policy, during the policy term.
• This policy covers in-patient medical expenses incurred on hospitalization in India.
• A person can cover himself, spouse, dependent children under the same policy.
• Spouse or children can be covered under the insurance plan on payment of additional fixed premium.
• The policy can be renewed for life if there is no break in the policy.
• All pre-existing diseases are covered in the policy.
• All diseases are covered from the date of issue of the policy without any waiting period. (ie waiting period of 30 days and 2 years has been exhausted.)
• In case of Major Surgery up to 100% of Sum Assured will be payable to the insured of any age.

Key Terms of Health Insurance Policy for Journalists

1. It is mandatory to stay in the hospital for at least 24 hours. Except for certain specified diseases as mentioned in the policy.
2. Room, boarding and nursing expenses will be covered up to 2% of the sum insured.
3. Dental treatment expenses of any kind will be admissible only in case of accident.
4. Intimation of hospitalization has to be given to the company/TPA expeditiously.
5. All claim processing will be done by the TPA indicated on the policy.
6. For the treatment of the insured, there will be cashless facility in the listed network hospital and the cost of treatment in non-network hospital will be refunded.
7. Only children up to the age of 25 years will be covered.

• This policy covers death, total and partial disablement as a result of any accident.
• This policy covers only the basic insured and not his/her family members.

Salient Features of Journalist Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme

  1. Insurance will be done for 1 year under Journalist Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme. 75 percent of the annual insurance installment of the communication representative up to 60 years and 85 percent of the insurance installment of the communication representative of 61 to 70 years will be paid by the Public Relations Department.
  2. Husband, wife, children (maximum three unmarried) and parents can also be included in the scheme on payment of prescribed premium.
  3. The insurance policy will cover all the pre-existing diseases.
  4. Along with the preferred journalists of the Public Relations Department, the journalists who give Form 16 of the Institute of Communications and the slip of PPF deduction will also be eligible as before.
  5. Journalists working in New Delhi, native of Madhya Pradesh, will also be eligible under the Journalists Health and Accident Group Insurance Scheme.
  6. The government has also decided to include non-preferential journalists in the scheme. Under this 50% premium will be given by the journalist and 50% by the Public Relations Department. In this category, four weekly / fortnightly / monthly newspaper magazines and two representatives of electronic and web media will be eligible in the scheme. Representatives of regular journals registered with RNI will be eligible.
  7. Under the policy, there will be a cashless arrangement for treatment in the identified hospitals of the insurance company, for which a card and e-card will also be given to the journalists.
